Scripted-logo-460_2Gotham CastWarner Bros. has signed a multi-year free TV deal with Brazilian broadcaster Globo.

This will see Warner Bros. International Television Distribution providing the network will feature films such as Mad Max: Fury Road and Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and TV series including Gotham, The Flash and Supergirl.

The deal is a boon for Warner Bros., which this year saw its lucrative output deal with Australian free-to-air broadcaster Nine Network end amid talk from buyers about the difficulty of committing to expensive multi-year studio deals.

“Brazil is an important market and we are glad that viewers will have access to some of our world-class feature films and television series,” said Jeffrey Schlesigner, president of Warner Bros. International Television.

Globo CEO Carlos Henrique Schroder said the deal would bring “more variety and good films and series for our slots on Globo, reinforcing our commitment to free-to-air TV in Brazil”.

“Movie fans, especially, will profit from this deal because we will have the world’s best blockbusters,” he added. “Every day, we communicate with 96 million people, that get attached and have fun with movie and series that we exhibit with no cost to the audience.”

Globo, which is Latin America’s biggest broadcast network, already has output agreements with Sony Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and The Walt Disney Company. Its key audiences come from its telenovelas, which attract huge audiences.
