Boat Rocker buys Loud House prodco

Kids-logo-460_2The Loud HouseThe expansion of Canada’s Boat Rocker Media continues apace with the firm buying compatriot family and kids producer Jam Filled Entertainment.

Boat Rocker has been in acquisitive mode since it came into being in February as the new corporate identity of Orphan Black producer Temple Street Productions.

Ottawa-based Jam Filled did the service work on Nickelodeon toon The Loud Show and The Bagel and Becky Show, and several Canadian productions such as YTV’s animated programme Numb Chucks.

It will sit next to Radical Sheep and Industrial Brothers in the Boat Rocker stable.

Jam Filled president Kyle MacDougall and creative directors Jamie Leclaire and Phil Lafrance will retain their role following the deal, reporting to Boat Rocker CEO John Young.

Jam Filled will continue to operate under its current name, with Boat Rocker providing capital investment and business support to help to grow its 2D animation capabilities and push into 3D.

“Boat Rocker has made strategic investments in the family and animation space and the acquisition of Jam Filled will enable the studio to round out its abilities in 2D and 3D animation to develop even stronger, premium content,” said Boat Rocker co-executive chairmen David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg in a statement.

“Jam Filled, and its founders Kyle, Jamie and Phil, are renowned in the industry for their high quality work, attention to detail and integrity, but most of all, their creativity. They mirror Boat Rocker’s ideals and we are thrilled to welcome them aboard.”

Young said adding Jam Filled’s 150-plus animators to its ranks meant Boat Rocker could expand is animation services capabilities, and “will also allow us to add to our original programming strength in the kids and family arena, complementing the teams within Radical Sheep and Industrial Brothers”.
Boat Rocker’s divisions include Boat Rocker Animation.

Boat Rocker’s creation followed Fairfax Financial buying Temple Street last year.
