Sony boss heading to MIPCOM

Sony Corporation CEO Kazuo Hirai will give a keynote address at MIPCOM in October.

Kazuo HiraiHirai runs the entire Sony business, encompassing its TV and film divisions, as well as the Playstation and wider consumer electronics units.

He will deliver the opening keynote of the market in the Grand Auditorium on Monday, October 17.

His appearance representing the Japanese giant comes as Japan is recognised as this year’s country of honour.

Hirai has been president and CEO of Sony Corporation since April 2012, and a Director on the company’s board since 2012. He has been at Sony since the mid-1980s.

“With Japan featuring as MIPCOM 2016 Country of Honour, it’s exciting to welcome Mr. Hirai who represents Sony, the best in the entertainment industry originated in that country,” said Laurine Garaude, director of television at MIPCOM organiser Reed Midem.

Hirai joins other confirmed Media Mastermind speakers from Disney, Participant Media and STX Entertainment.
