UK-Poland deal as BBC, TVP agree pact

Spies of WarsawBBC Worldwide and TVP have agreed a deal that will see them make series together.

The Polish pubcaster and the commercial arm of its UK equivalent have already teamed on projects including the David Tennant drama series Spies of Warsaw (pictured).

A new letter of intent the pair have signed covers coproduction and programme sales across drama and factual genres.

TVP also said it will look at BBC Worldwide formats with an eye on remaking them locally.

The Polish broadcaster’s president, Jacek Kurski, confirmed the deal. “BBC Worldwide is a serious and verified partner of TVP,” he said.

“This agreement will allow us to cooperate in creating our programme and distribution offer as well as broaden our cooperation in training, market know-how and audience research. I think that both the public television employees and its viewers will profit from it.”
