Barbarians Rising in new History original

A+E has ordered docu-drama series Barbarians Rising for its History channels around the world.

The eight-parter will be produced by UK prodco October Films for History, and will tell the story of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, as seen through the eyes of different barbarian tribal leaders.

The series will feature famous historical figures including Hannibal, Spartacus, Attila and Boudica.

A+E said it will run the show across its 185-territory footprint of History channels in 2016. A+E Networks’s international distribution arm will handle the global sales of the show to third parties.
