Italian drama sells in Cannes

Several broadcasters bought Italian crime series The Young Montalbano in Cannes last week.

The cop series is distributed by RAI Com, the programme sales arm of Italian pubcaster RAI.

The BBC picked up the new season of the show for the UK, NHK took it for Japan and RAI Com said it was close to sealing deals in Belgium, Finland and Spain.

RAI also said deals were in the offing for another of its crime series, Close Murders, which follows the exploits of female cop Valeria Ferro.

Canadian cabler Rogers, meanwhile, acquired family drama series The Family.
