DRG crowns Channel 4 Prince Philip doc

Prince PhilipUK-based distributor DRG has acquired international sales rights to Channel 4 documentary Prince Philip: the Plot to Make a King.

The doc launched on UK terrestrial Channel 4 at the end of June to more than two million viewers, prompting Modern Times Group-owned DRG to swoop.

The show, from Blakeway, follows the tensions unleashed by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth marriage to Prince Philip, and joins DRG’s slate of royal family-themed docs such as Prince George at One and Queen Victoria and the Crippled Kaiser.

“At DRG, we are dedicated to identifying and distributing groundbreaking, original series across a range of genres, and this fascinating and intriguing documentary about one of the country’s most well-known and best loved royal figures is a brilliant example of that,” said Noel Hedges, executive VP of content.
