Netflix int’l subs to hit 26m by year-end

NetflixBuilding4Netflix’s international subscriber base is expected to grow by almost ten million in 2015 to reach 26.36 million by the end of the year, according to Digital TV Research.

According to Digital TV Research’s Global OTT TV & Video Forecasts, Netflix will have 69.9 million subscribers globally by December 31, up 28% year-on-year. International subscribers are expected to account for 9.58 million of these, up 57% year-on-year.

Digital TV Research expects the UK to be the biggest international territory, with 4.942 million subscribers, followed by Canada with 3.95 million and Brazil with 3.338 million.

Other European territories are experiencing mixed rates of growth. After the UK, the Netherlands will remain the SVOD provider’s leading European market, with 1.6 million subscribers, followed by Sweden with 1.463 million customers.

Germany and France will trail behind the leaders somewhat, with 1.208 million and 1.15 million subscribers respectively, according to Digital TV Research. New European launch market Spain is expected to contribute 150,000 customers to the total.
