ABC, MediaCorp sign programming, copro pact

Australian pubcaster the ABC and Singaporean MediaCorp have signed a programming and coproduction agreement.

The pair will work on programming opportunities, content exchange and coproductions on various television, radio and online platforms.

“As we extend and enrich our content and services to audiences across the region, we are delighted to have reached an agreement that will enable both companies to leverage our respective knowledge, content and platforms,” said Lynley Marshall, CEO of ABC’s global arm, ABC International.

The pact will largely focus on news programming and current affairs, and comes as the pair seek to bolster their output.

“With pressure on news organisations to stay relevant, report faster, expand our digital offerings and meet our competitors head on, media organisations need to find ways to work together without compromising our business objectives or standards,” said MediaCorp’s head of news and premier, Debra Soon.
