The pair have optioned Doc Martin from UK-based distributor DRG which sells the format. In the UK the series has run to six seasons on commercial free-to-air channel ITV and a seventh has been ordered.

The format deal was negotiated by Electus’ international boss, John Pollak and DRG’s commercial director, Wayne Davison.

The UK series is produced by Buffalo Pictures in association with HomeRun Productions. There are seven local versions of Doc Martin already made, including in the major markets of France, Spain and Germany with TF1, Antena3 and ZDF respectively.

“We are thrilled to be adapting this hilarious smart show for America,” said Electus Chairman Ben Silverman, “Doc Martin has charmed viewers worldwide with its excellent concept and unique style of comedy, and we’re proud to be working with Marta Kauffman on this exciting show.”
