ITV completes Talpa takeover

The Voice ArabiaITV has completed its takeover of The Voice producer Talpa Media, a stock market announcement reveals.

John de Mol’s Netherlands-based company is now part of the UK broadcaster, a move that strengthens the latter’s position in the European production market.

ITV has paid an initial £355 million (US$538.4 million) for Talpa, though this could rise to more than £780 million if certain performance targets are hit.

Besides global singing competition smash The Voice, Talpa also created Utopia, I Love My Country and Dating in the Dark. It has various joint venture operates that allow it produce formats in local territories throughout Europe, the US, the Middle East and China.
