Breakthrough makes reality hire

Breakthrough Entertainment has recruited Chantal Jackson as head of development, alternative content as the Canada-based producer and distributor pushes more deeply into reality programming.

Jackson will be based in Toronto and work alongside Beth Fraikorn, who Breakthrough recently hired to run its new New York office, as head of alternative content.

Jackson will develop original reality TV ideas as well as copros with Canadian and international partners. She has developed numerous reality and lifestyle shows and her credits include Amazing Race Canada and Say Yes to the Dress Canada.

“As factual and reality continues to play a huge role across the global marketplace, we are committed to becoming a prime source of quality alternative programming,” said Breakthrough partner Michael McGuigan.

He added: “Chantal’s outstanding achievements in reality and non-fiction will help further Breakthrough’s objectives as we work to become a significant force in the genre.”
