Empire-R9-01_kva1American streaming platform Hulu has acquired exclusive subscription on-demand rights to Fox’s new season hit Empire.

The deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution means Hulu Plus subscribers will be able to access season one and all future episodes of the show.

Empire has become the biggest-rating new season network drama of the past five years, with the finale episode taking 16.5 million. The show also grew its audience each week over its first 10 episodes, a feat not achieved in the US in 23 years.

The drama follows a hip-hop family dynasty whose patriarch, played by Terence Howard, wants to find a successor for his business from within the family after being diagnosed with ALS.
