Showtime for INXS as Shine strikes US deal

INXS_flipUS cable network Showtime has acquired INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, the two-part drama that tells the story of the Australian rockers.

Shine’s international sales arm distributes the drama and struck the Showtime deal, and told TBI this morning about a raft of other agreements for the drama.

CBS-owned premium cable net Showtime will show the two-parter later this year.

Other broadcasters that have acquired the drama include Globosat in Brazil, SVT in Sweden, DirecTV in Latin America, RTV in Slovenia and ETV in Estonia.

Mark Fennessy, CEO, Shine Australia said: “The timeless music and Shakespearean adventures of INXS touched a generation during the decadent 80s. I’m thrilled US audiences will have the chance to re-live the wildest of rides to the top.”

Produced by Shine Australia and made in association with the band’s manager Chris ‘CM’ Gordon and guitarist Tim Farriss, the series was a hit for free-to-air broadcaster Seven in Australia where each episode delivered over two million viewers making it the most popular drama of the year-to-date in the country.
