Al Jazeera kids channel visits Mysterious Cities

Al Jazeera’s children’s channel Jeem and Israeli net Zoom have acquired the second season of animated series The Mysterious Cities of Gold.

Mysterious Cities of GoldThe show, which follows three young children in the 16th century who have adventures in the New World, will go out on the channels later this year. Zoom is part of the Imagine Media Kids company.

Tele Quebec in Canada, RTS is Switzerland, RTBF in Belgium, Canal Panda in Portugal, Kix! in the UK and Nickelodeon in Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia and eastern Europe have already acquired the show, which was first produced in 1982 and relaunched on TF1 in 2007.

It comes from French producer Blue Spirit, and is sold by Newen Distribution. Both companies are part of the Telfrance Group.

Newen also distributes the original series, which performed well in the US, Australia, the UK and Japan.
