News brief: Netflix launches Breaking Bad in 4K

US-based streaming service Netflix has launched Breaking Bad in 4K, the new ultra high definition TV standard.

The 4K version of the gritty drug-dealing drama will be available in Netflix’s domestic market as well as all of the international territories in which it operates.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has said OTT services will be the first to benefit from 4K and it has started adding to its range of 4K shows, with season two of House of Cards and some nature film launching in UHD earlier this year.

Its new original dramas will also, all be produced in 4K.
