Shine poaches BBC Worldwide exec for unscripted

Michael-Brooks(1)Shine America has recruited Michael Brooks as its senior VP, unscripted programming.

The US division of the Shine Group has poached Brooks from the west coast division of BBC Worldwide Productions and its affiliated prodco Adjacent Productions where he was senior VP, entertainment programming & development.

At Shine, Brooks will report to unscripted executive VP Paul Franklin. He said: “He’s one of the top execs trusted by cable and broadcast networks alike and his diverse experience in the unscripted world will help keep our programming momentum going.”

Shine America’s recent unscripted commissions include Riot for Fox, Fake Off for TruTV and Restaurant Startup for CNBC.

Brooks’ credits at BBC Worldwide include the US version of Top Gear for History and Mud, Sweat & Gears for BBC America. He was also part of the team that launched BBC Worldwide-owned format Dancing with the Stars in the US.
