Warner Bros. installs Register at helm of new digital division

Sam-RegisterWarner Bros. has appointed Sam Register to run a newly-created digital production unit.

In the newly-created role of president, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, Register will lead a new live-action digital content unit, reporting directly to Warner Bros. Television Group president and chief content officer Peter Roth.

The studio said he will spearhead the development and production of original live-action digital series, tapping the creative talent already working at Warner Bros. as well as identifying new writing and production talent.

He will continue to run Warner Bros. Animation. Prior to the new role he was executive VP, creative affairs, at the animation division and his credits include Teen Titans Go! the new Tom and Jerry Show and the upcoming Be Cool Scooby-Doo! and Mike Tyson Mysteries.

Prior to Warner Bros. Animation, Register was at Cartoon Network.

Speaking about his new role, Peter Roth said: “[Register’s] creative instincts coupled with boundless enthusiasm, passion and energy were all key drivers in WBA’s recent successes, and I know that he will bring the same level of leadership and commitment to his new mission of building and expanding our digital series business.”
