BBC Worldwide cuts China deals

BBC Worldside has closed programming deals with Hong Kong free-TV broadcaster TVB and on-demand platform Tencent.

The TVB deals means factual shows such as How to Build a Planet and Supergiant Animals will run on the network, alongside drama Sherlock, lifestyle series Michela’s Classic Italian and preschool series Show Me Show Me.

The Tencent agreement beings BBCWW titles including Frozen Planet and Penguins – Spy in the Huddle to the web service.

It is the first time BBCWW factual programming will go out on Tencent. BBCWW-sold dramas such as Primeval have been offered for several years.
