News brief: Trace seals Cablevisión carriage deal

Modern Times Group-owned sports lifestyle channel operator Trace has secured a carriage deal with pay TV operator Cablevisión.

The sports celebrity Trace Sports Stars channel will launch on the Televisa-owned platform after Alterna, which represents the channel in the US and Latin America, brokered a deal.

Laurent Dumeau, CEO, Trace Sport Stars, said: “We believe Trace Sport Stars will continue to generate significant interest throughout Latin America due to the unique nature of the channel’s programming, delivering the latest news, behind-the-scenes content, and reviewing the most current aspects of sports celebrities’ lives.”

MTG bought a 75% stake in Trace earlier this month for €30 million (US$41.6 million), in a deal first reported by TBI.
