Channel operator UKTV has ordered an original comedy series Crackanory from Tiger Aspect, the UK production company owned by Endemol.
The 6x40mins series will air on UKTV’s entertainment channel Dave. A grown-up take on the classic British kids storytelling show Jackanory, it will feature a roster of well-known UK comics and celebrities including Harry Enfield, Jack Dee and Richard Hammond.
Each forty-minute instalment will feature two stories as well as animated elements. The show greenlit by commissioning editor, comedy, Sarah Fraser and ordered by Dave general manager, Steve North.
North said: “Crackanory gives it a brand new, contemporary twist, in what could be described as an ingenious adult adaptation of well-loved children’s programme Jackanory. Weird and wonderful tales delivered by the funniest people on television.”
UKTV is a joint venture between Scripps and BBC Worldwide.
