Zodiak sells German kids vs. adults entertainment series into China

YGTBKM-China III (3)Zodiak Rights has sold You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me to Guangxi Satellite TV and the Chinese broadcaster will air a ten-episode local version of the entertainment show.

Zodiak took international rights to the series from I & U TV, the German producer that makes it for public broadcaster ARD where it proved the channel’s best-rated Saturday night show.

The format pitches talented kids against seemingly unbeatable adult opponents with surprise results.

Barnaby Shingleton, head of entertainment, Zodiak Rights said: “Watching kids achieve extraordinary things is always great entertainment, but having them compete head-to-head with adults makes their accomplishments even more impressive. You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me is a primetime talent show with real heart, and we are confident Chinese viewers will warm to it as much as German audiences have.”

The Chinese version will be made by local producer Shixi Media and launch this week in a 10pm slot. It will also go out on regional stations Jiangxi City Channel, Henan City Channel, Hubei Synthetic Channel and Dalian TV.

The deal was brokered by Naomi Koh, VP of Sales at Zodiak Rights.
