Sherlock is on BBC HD

BBC Worldwide has signed a deal with Digiturk and its BBC Knowledge and BBC HD channels launch on the Turkish satellite platform for the first time.

The expanded deal came as the BBC’s commercial arm renewed its carriage deal for BBC Entertainment and BBC World News, which are already available on Digiturk.

The doubling of the BBC’s presence on the Digiturk platform marks the continued growth BBC Worldwide’s channel portfolio in Europe.

Factual network BBC Knowledge has already launched this year in Cyprus, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, while BBC HD – which offers a selection of documentaries, entertainment and arts programming in HD – is now available on all of Turkey’s pay TV platforms.

“This is terrific news for us, and for viewers. Now, as well as BBC Entertainment and BBC World News, an even wider audience will be able to watch more of our world-class programming. This is yet another big step in our channels portfolio expansion throughout CEMA,” said BBC Worldwide’s executive vice president for CEMA, Ian McDonough.
