Fox to adapt ITV hit Broadchurch

BroadchurchUS broadcast network Fox is planning a remake of ITV drama hit Broadchurch (pictured) to add its slate of limited run shows.

The Kudos Film and Television-produced show has performed well in the UK, scoring 10.5 million – a 34.2% share – on its finale on April 15, prompting Fox to add it a slate that already includes Wayward Pines and 24: Live Another Day.

Kudos and Shine Group stablemate Shine America will produce the show, which is scheduled for the 2014-15 broadcast season.

Chris Chibnall, who was behind the original series, will write and executive produce the show, with Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone also on exec production duties.

It will be set in a small American town, and tell the story of the mystery around a young boy found dead on a beach surrounded by cliffs, from which he may have fallen.

Broadchurch is the kind of storytelling that grabs your attention and keeps you riveted with every minute – which is exactly what we look for in an event series,” said Kevin Reilly, Fox’s chairman.

Shine International will handle sales of the US show.
