Chello signs ShortsTV distribution deal

Chello Central Europe will distribute the ShortsTV short movie network in Central and Eastern Europe, through a deal with the channel’s owner Shorts International.

Chello Central Europe will distribute the HD version of ShortsTV in Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Balkans.

The deal follows ShortsTV’s move into Romania in March with Romtelecom and is the latest step in the firm’s ongoing expansion efforts.

“Chello Central Europe is a valued partner with a fantastic local market strategy,” said ShortsTV CEO Carter Pilcher. “It’s clear to us that modern digital platforms are increasingly seeking quality independent film content that fit viewers’ new multi-screen preferences.”

ShortsTV HD launched in April 2012 and it is now available to more than 8 million subscribers in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Turkey, Romania and Eastern Africa.
