The Bible gets 11.7 million for finale

The concluding episode of History’s biblical miniseries The Bible pulled in 11.7 million viewers, 3.8 million of which were in the coveted 18-49 demo.

The Mark Burnett-produced series has generated big numbers for History and the final episode, which showed the resurrection of Jesus and went out on Easter Sunday, means the show averaged 11.4 million across its five episode run.

Buoyed by the success of the series, History is expected to be the number one US cable network in March in terms of viewer numbers.

History noted that the two hour show beat AMC’s The Walking Dead in the 9-10pm portion of the show, but the zombie series delivered higher overall ratings.

The two shows have swapped the position of top overall show across cable as well broadcast, in recent weeks.
