News brief: TalkTalk chairman to be interim YouView chair

UK connected-TV platform YouView has appointed Sir Charles Dunstone as interim chairman while a permanent replacement for Lord Alan Sugar is found.

Sugar resigned as non-executive chairman of the IPTV platform last week amid rumours of a massive bust up with Richard Desmond, the owner of YouView partner Channel 5, in which the latter allegedly used Sugar’s famous catchphrase from The Apprentice – “You’re fired!” – against him.

Dunstone is chairman of another YouView shareholding partner, UK telco TalkTalk. He will chair the UK terrestrial broadcaster-backed platform while a search for a permanent replacement is sought.
