DirecTV picks up FremantleMedia drama Hit and Miss

DirecTV has taken exclusive US rights to Hit and Miss, the upcoming drama from Paul Abbott (Shameless), which stars Chloë Sevigny as a pre-op transsexual contract killer.

The six-part show is produced by Abbott’s AbbottVision and UK indie Red Production Company and distributed by FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME).

In the UK the show will go out on pay TV operator BSkyB’s Sky Atlantic channel and was the first original series ordered by the channel.

DirecTV will transmit the high-concept series on its Audience Network (fka The 101 Network), the channel that has previously invested in and shown Damages and Friday Night Lights.

Hit and Miss stars Sevigny as Mia, pre-op transsexual contract killer who finds out that she has a son to who she then becomes a guardian.

FME has a development deal with Abbott and this is the second series to come out of that deal after psychological thriller Exile.

“Since the launch of our global drama strategy two years ago we have delivered a range of high-quality scripted content to audiences around the world, and are delighted to be taking Hit and Miss to the 19 million-plus DirecTV customers across the US,” said David Ellender, global CEO of FME.
