Warner Bros. sets up £100m UK production base

Warner Bros. will announce a £100 million investment in UK studio facilities later this week.

The Hollywood studio has acquired Leavesden Studios, in Hertfordshire, England, and will use it for TV and film production.

Warner Bros. said the deal makes it the only one of the studios to operate its own production facility in the UK. It has used Leavesden for several years and The Dark Knight and the Harry Potter movies are among those that were made, in part, there and some stages will be opened to the public.

About 1,500 people are employed at Leavesden.

“At a time when investment in the UK is critical, Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden is a significant endorsement of the creative talent here in the UK,” said Josh Berger, president and managing director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain. “It will generate jobs, inward investment and interest in an industry that is respected the world over.”
