Come Dine with gets cooking in the US

UK format Come Dine with Me is being remade for the US market. The ITV Studios-distributed dinner party show has been picked up by the BBC, which will transmit a local version on its BBC America cable channel.

The US format will feature amateur chefs from New York as they attempt to organise the best dinner party and rate the efforts of the other competitors.

The original UK version of the show is already carried on the BBC Worldwide-operated international digital channel BBC Lifestyle.

The 10x60mins US version will bow on the channel early next year and will also be shown on BBC Lifestyle in Asia, Africa, Poland, Scandinavia and the Middle East. In Latin America it will appear upon the BBC Entertainment channel.

BBC America has also acquired 22 episodes of the UK series for broadcast from July.

The ITV format is now produced locally in over 20 territories.
