HBO unveils summer docs slate

US pay cable net HBO has unveiled a slate of factual programming for the summer months that includes one-offs about politicians Teddy Kennedy and Marion Barry.

Other shows in the line-up include Prom Night in Mississippi, which follows actor Morgan Freeman’s attempts to instigate a multiracial school prom in his hometown high school and Boy Interrupted, which was one of the Sundance Film Festival’s selected projects and recounts the tale of 15-year-old Evan Barry’s struggle with bipolar disorder.

The Kennedy doc, Teddy: In his Own Words, is a biopic about the Democrat senator told, as the title suggests, in his own words. Another political offering, The Nine Lives of Marion Barry, profiles the controversial Washington politician.
