MGM launching China World

Hollywood studio MGM is to open MGM Studio World in China.

The entertainment centre will be based in Shanghai and will promote its brands – which include James Bond, Stargate, Rocky and the Pink Panther – in the country.

The indoor location will include restaurants, stores and a 200,000 square feet entertainment venue for shows and performances. There will also be attractions including water features and a branded MGM store.

MGM inked the deal with local Hong Kong outfit Tengxun Entertainment and Management and Shanghai Tianhong Real Estate Investment as part of its latest attempts to break into the lucrative Chinese film and television market.
